Kolor Me Katie 5k
Saturday, May 19th
Goochland Family YMCA
The Goochland Family YMCA will host the 4th Annual Kolor Me Katie 5K in memory of Katie Lane Anderson, a lifelong resident of Goochland County, on May 19, 2018. Katie Anderson lost her battle to acute myeloid leukemia (AML) after a failed bone marrow transplant and a second attempt at a stem cell transplant. AML is typically one of the most aggressive blood cancers with very few treatment options. Katie would have celebrated her 21st birthday on May 20 of this year.
This race benefits the Goochland YMCA Leaders' Club and all sponsorships will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This event has already raised nearly $20,000 for non-profits related to either blood cancers and/or childhood cancers. Previous recipients a include Connor's Heroes Foundation and The Virginia Rose AML Foundation. This race also provides opportunities for Goochland Leaders Club Members to complete community service hours - a requirement of all Leaders Club Members.
