Exercise Tip Thursday - Nutrition

With fall marathon season right around the corner, many of you are probably experimenting with which type of nutrition works best for you. We recommend consuming some form of nutrition during your runs that are longer than 45 minutes. Nowadays, so many options exist - gels and chewables - that it can be tough to know which one is right for you. It's important to allow yourself plenty of time before race day to determine the one that works best for you. Here at Fleet Feet Sports Richmond, we carry several great options that you may find work well for you.

Gels:

  • Gels have a slightly thicker consistency, much like pudding. They offer about 100 calories per packet, and a slight electrolyte replacement, although nowhere near what you would need while running (aka also select a hydration option like Nuun or Skratch). We carry a variety of flavors and brands.
